Recently, the Development and Reform Commission of Henan Province issued the Implementation Plan for Promoting Bio-economic Development in Henan Province (hereinafter referred to as the Plan). As a frontier technology of biomedicine, cell therapy was mentioned. The "Proposal" proposes to support the pilot reform in cell therapy and other fields relying on the China (Henan) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
At the same time, the "Proposal" clearly proposes to support Zhengzhou and Xinxiang, relying on the advantages of strong biomedical foundation and concentrated scientific research institutes, aiming at the direction of high-end and internationalization, trying reform measures first, attracting the elements of biological innovation and industrial development, improving the level of transformation of achievements and intellectual property service capabilities, and creating bio-industrial innovation highlands and industrial clusters with obvious domestic competitiveness and influence through deep integration of R&D and application, leading and demonstrating.
As a biomedical enterprise operating and managing in Zhengzhou and Xinxiang, Henan Hualong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. At present, the global health industry continues to develop vigorously, and cell therapy technologies such as stem cells and immune cells are developing rapidly, which has become the focus of attention and development in developed countries as the leading frontier of biomedicine. China’s cell industry is in a "parallel running" position in the world, and it is a new field that catches up with the international and focuses on exerting strength.
"Cell therapy is a treatment method that uses autologous or allogeneic adult cells or stem cells of patients to be treated by a series of bioengineering techniques such as acquisition, separation, culture, amplification and screening, and then reinfusion them into patients, and then repair tissues and organs. It is widely used in bone marrow transplantation, advanced cirrhosis, femoral head necrosis, malignant tumors, myocardial infarction and other diseases." At the beginning of the interview, Yan Yuliang first explained what cell therapy is.
Yan Yuliang introduced that Hualong Bio was established in Xinxiang in 2012, mainly engaged in stem cell storage and cell therapy technical services. In stem cell separation and storage technology, all key indicators have reached the advanced level of the industry, covering all mainstream immune cell therapy technology products at present, and the core technical indicators of some products are in the forefront of the industry.

First, it proposed to build a bio-economic development layout with" one core and five bases "as the main body, and Zhengzhou and Xinxiang as the bio-economic core areas for the joint development of" one core ".Our company headquarters are located in Zhengzhou and Xinxiang, which can be said to occupy both geographical locations; Second, we are encouraged to see that Henan attaches so much importance to bio-economy. It is expected that with the release of the "Proposal", more relevant refinement policies will be introduced, and special pioneering and pilot development policies will be formulated for the cell industry. " Yan Yuliang said.

The reporter noticed that the word "innovation" was mentioned many times in the "Proposal" released this time, and Yan Yuliang agreed with it very much. He said that the most important thing for Hualong Bio to achieve today is to value R&D and innovation.
Yan Yuliang introduced that at present, Hualong Bio has built the only national-level R&D platform and national-level cell bank in the cell industry in Henan Province, namely the national and local joint engineering laboratory of stem cells and biotherapy and the human stem cell resource bank in Henan Province, and established 9 scientific research and industrial transformation platforms (2 at the municipal level, 5 at the provincial level and 2 at the national level) such as new R&D institutions in Henan Province, enterprise technology center in Henan Province and stem cell engineering laboratory in Henan Province. He has presided over the research and development of key international cooperation projects in Henan Province, major provincial/municipal science and technology projects, local science and technology fund development projects guided by the central government, and medical science and technology research projects for many years.
In 2021, Hualong Bio actively participated in the reconstruction and revitalization of Henan Academy of Sciences, introduced leading talents in the cell industry at home and abroad, and jointly carried out scientific research projects in the cell field. At the same time, it has established in-depth cooperation with nearly 100 hospitals and scientific research institutions such as Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhengzhou University and its affiliated hospitals, Xinxiang Medical College and its affiliated hospitals, Henan Cancer Hospital, and continued to carry out basic and clinical transformation research in the field of cells.
In terms of innovation achievementsHualong Bio has provided a number of cellular immunotherapy technical services with independent intellectual property rights for more than 30 3A hospitals inside and outside the province. Based on the development of new cell products and innovative research projects, Hualong Bio has applied for more than 30 patents, including 2 exclusive licensing patents, 9 authorized invention patents and 1 PCT acceptance. In 2018, Hualong Bio launched the first drug declaration for cell products, namely RCAT cells (product number KY-101). The main indications are renal clear cell carcinoma or renal cancer containing clear cell components that failed to be treated with molecular targeted drugs.
Building the largest cell resource bank in Henan Province

It is understood that the cell industry has three chains: cell storage, development of cell therapy technology and research and development of cell therapy drugs.
In Yan Yuliang’s view, the cell industry has great potential for development in the future. He said that according to the data of permanent population and birth rate in Henan Province, the newborn population is about one million, and the market space for stem cell storage in Henan Province is about 26 billion yuan. According to the penetration rate of 10%, the market size is about 2.6 billion yuan. According to the statistics of relevant listed companies, the storage scale of stem cells in Henan Province is less than 500 million yuan at present.
According to the Jost Sullivan Report, from 2021 to 2023, the market size of immunotherapy products in China will increase from 1.3 billion yuan to 10.2 billion yuan, with a compound annual growth rate of 181.5%. With the approval of more cellular immunotherapy products, it is estimated that the scale of immunotherapy products will reach 58.4 billion yuan in 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 28.3% from 2023 to 2030.
How to seize the "window" of the industry to achieve leapfrog? Hualong Bio has made a plan layout.
