In 2012, Beizhong Group independently developed the world’s largest main cylinder of the first 36,000-ton black metal vertical extruder, which needs mechanical processing during maintenance. There are three main difficulties in processing: First, the parts are too large, and the processing surface cannot be observed during processing, and the size is not easy to measure; Second, the part has a winding process, and after winding, the inner hole changes uncontrollably with the progress of the processing process; Third, the parts must be turned around and dried in the middle of processing, and they need to be re-aligned to ensure the tolerance of roundness and cylindricity of the inner hole, and the cutter joints should be exactly divided. Faced with such a difficult problem, Zheng Gui consulted information day and night, repeatedly tried and demonstrated, and innovatively put forward a rough car — Winding — Semi-refined car — Grinding — Finishing and other processes, and design a special fixture to increase stability and reduce the radial cutting force of the tool, and adopt a two-way segmented processing method to complete the repair of the cylinder body. After testing, all the dimensions meet the requirements, and the roundness and cylindricity are guaranteed within 4 wires, saving more than 6 million yuan. This innovation won the second prize of outstanding technological innovation achievements of Inner Mongolia employees in 2016.

In 2015, a large-caliber artillery of a naval product entered the stage of small batch production. The inner and outer races of the pedestal of this product belong to super-large diameter bearings, so it is difficult to produce, and the flatness and the free fit clearance of the inner and outer races require high precision. The quenching treatment of the inner and outer races is required in the processing process. All along, the material processing has been outsourced to foreign manufacturers, and the outsourcing cost is 250,000 yuan. The round-trip processing is time-consuming and laborious, and the production cost is high. After careful study, the production department revised the processing plan, and this arduous task was handed over to Zheng Guiyou again. He adopted the process dispersion method, used low temperature+vibration aging in the middle process to eliminate the turning stress, and clamped the turning datum plane with no clamping force; In view of the high hardness of raceway, cubic boron nitride cutter is adopted and cutting parameters are optimized, and finally the machining task is successfully completed, which provides a machining method for mass production of this product.

In 2016, the fire system of a self-propelled antiaircraft gun was a key scientific research project of Beizhong Group to build the processing capability of small-caliber guns. The gun tail is one of the key parts in this project, with complex structure, high precision, long processing cycle and difficult processing and testing. In view of the characteristics of high position accuracy and dimensional accuracy of the gun barrel, Zheng Guiyou reprogrammed the appropriate technology, designed and manufactured a special eccentric fixture and equipped with a balance weight, and connected it with the gun barrel by positioning two pins on one side and axial compression. During the processing, for the quenched maraging ultra-high strength steel material, this difficult processing task was successfully completed by selecting the lengthened integral carbide tool holder and optimizing the cutting and tool parameters, which lasted for more than two months. The project won the first prize of technical progress of enterprises of Beizhong Group, and at the same time won the innovation subsidy fund of 200,000 yuan for employees of All-China Federation of Trade Unions in 2017.

Latchers call the rod with the ratio of the length to the diameter of the workpiece more than 25 times as slender rod, and the greater the ratio of the length to the diameter, the more difficult it is to process. Zheng Guiyou challenged this difficult problem. He devoted himself to studying and exploring in long-term production practice, and summed up a set of scientific and reasonable methods for processing long rods and shafts — — "Zheng Guiyou has a slender shaft cutting method". This method breaks through five technical difficulties: controlling cylindricity tolerance and surface quality, eliminating internal stress generated in the process of cutting slender shaft, mastering the skills of workpiece clamping, turning slender rod with reverse feed, and realizing the best contact pressure between the supporting claw of the tool holder and the workpiece during turning. "Zheng Guiyou’s slender shaft cutting method" has been widely popularized and applied in the company, creating considerable economic benefits.

Aiming at the technical difficulties of turning and measuring the conical surface, he summed up a set of methods for quickly and accurately correcting the bevel angle — — "Zheng Gui has a conical cutting method", which realizes the lean operation method and greatly improves the processing efficiency and product quality.

In the exploration of the processing of military scientific research products, in order to improve production efficiency and reduce labor intensity, Zheng Guiyou also innovated the processing of small-diameter helical teeth and the turning of trapezoidal threads of slender rods, which were widely popularized and applied.
