Recently, the 18th Furong River Dragon Boat Championship was held in the waters of Sanhekou, Furong River, Wulong District, Chongqing. According to reports, the 22-person dragon boat 200-meter and 500-meter straight race were set up in this competition, which attracted more than 570 players from 21 teams from Guangdong, Sichuan and Chongqing. Guangdong Zhaoqing team and Chongqing Hechuan team won the first place in the 200-meter and 500-meter straight race respectively.

  Chen Junhao, a member of Guangdong Zhaoqing Dragon Boat Team, said that this is my first time to come to Chongqing to participate in the dragon boat race. I think the scenery in Chongqing is particularly beautiful and the people in Chongqing are particularly enthusiastic. I am still very happy.

  On the morning of May 24th, 2025 China Dragon Boat Open (Jingzhou Station, Hubei Province) officially started. Thirty-five teams from all over the country, nearly a thousand athletes and coaches, and referees gathered in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, to paddle and race on the banks of the ancient city.

  With the referee’s command, the 100-meter straight race started, and the four teams rushed out of the starting line quickly. The players paddled with the drummer’s rhythm. In the end, Fuzhou Changle Huiquan Dragon Boat Team rushed to the finish line in less than 21 seconds.

  Zheng Changxin, captain of Fuzhou Changle Huiquan Dragon Boat Team, said that everyone’s cooperation ability and teamwork performance are very good.

  The two-day open competition consists of three competition groups: men’s open group, women’s open group and public group. Among them, there are 16 teams in the open group, which are composed of dragon boat teams from all over the country. There are 19 teams in the Volkswagen Group, which are composed of teams from counties and cities, municipal departments, enterprises and universities in Jingzhou. During the competition, the players constantly sum up their experience and adjust their tactics, so as to achieve the best results in each round.

When the glutinous rice was soaked, everyone sat around and wrapped dumplings, and then cooked it with a big fire. Soon, the angular and fragrant tea dumplings were freshly baked.

  Shao Juan, a tea farmer in Wenquan Town, said that we have a lot of tea here, and everyone likes to eat tea dumplings. Around the Dragon Boat Festival, the weather is very hot, and tea has the effect of relieving summer heat. After eating a few tea dumplings, my heart is cool and quick.

  In addition to tea dumplings, alkaline dumplings are also deeply loved by local people. This kind of zongzi is made by burning corn stalks into ash, adding boiling water and filtering to make alkaline water, and then mixing and soaking glutinous rice with alkaline water for 5-6 hours to color and enhance the fragrance of glutinous rice. After being wrapped in alkaline water, the dumplings need to be cooked for about 4 hours on fire, and the taste is the best.

  Wu Fenglan, a villager in Longquan Village, Tianyuan Town, said that this zongzi in our family is eaten when the weather is hot, and it has the function of invigorating the stomach and promoting digestion. If you eat it, your stomach will not support, and your stomach will not feel uncomfortable.

  When making dumplings with alkaline water, local people will also add ham produced in Yunnan to make unique ham dumplings. In one bite, the salty flavor of ham and the sweetness of glutinous rice are perfectly integrated, and the lips and teeth remain fragrant.
